ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER
The Long
Road Ahead
Autism Community Network is expanding it's services and it's physical space to better serve a growing need in the greater San Antonio community. We are teaming up with industry partners and donors to raise funding for the expansion of ACN, but we still have a long road ahead of us. As does our runner, Frank Vasquez, who will be running 100 CONSECUTIVE MILES in an effort to boost support for Autism Community Network’s expansion.

“Starting can be scary, but if we can share experiences and stories, we can encourage others to pursue their own goals and dreams.”
Meet the 100 Mile Man
Frank Vazquez is a native of San Antonio and a proud graduate of Harlandale High School. Upon graduation, Frank completed 12 weeks of Marine Corps Training in San Diego, California which is widely considered the toughest basic training program in the United States Armed Forces. In July 2014, he completed a 9 month deployment to Okinawa, Japan attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.  While Frank credits the Marine Corps for developing his leadership skills he also recognizes his upbringing set the foundation for his leadership style which he describes as, “pacesetting with vision.” Frank became a Community Marketing Agent for Wyndham Destinations earning the title of Senior in short time, successfully overseeing a team of dedicated marketing agents for San Antonio’s downtown area between 2016 and 2021.

During the global pandemic Frank became acutely aware of the negative effects the lock down was having on mental and physical wellness. In an attempt to combat this, Frank founded Right Now Motivational Team in August, 2020. This team consisted of motivators helping support and inspired others to take action in their lives through a channel dedicated to showing the commitment, risk, and sacrifices individuals must make in the beginning stages of their pursuit to happiness. “Starting can be scary, but if we can share experiences and stories, we can encourage others to pursue their own goals and dreams.”

Frank is now a dedicated husband and father of 4.  He is ready to take on new challenges in 2022. Motivated by bringing out the best in others and a passion to make a positive impact in his community, he has dedicated himself to Ultrarunning, a long distance running sport Ultrarunning embodies mental and physical toughness which happened to be pillars of his brand Right Now. Through this new chapter in his life he hopes to push his limits and showcase that we are all physically and mentally capable of much more than we can imagine. His goal is to help and inspire everyone to flourish in life. Everyone is fighting internal battles we can’t see, Right Now we can make a difference one life at a time.

“One Foot in Front of Another”
Once a solitary runner who could not imagine a journey with anyone by his side, Frank admits once he allowed himself to run in tandem with others he felt more joy, more support, and a natural connection to others with similar experiences.  So, too, do many of our families arrive at our door - isolated - unaware there is a community to join them along their journey.  Some have run ahead and are willing to circle back to run shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand.  Others will join behind forever making certain to catch them if they fall.  The trail is not a sprint, but a journey, of connected landmarks and milestones which can always be assessed for course correction, much like the neural connections of the young brain which is so beautifully malleable when approached holistically and gently.  Autism Community Network is there at mile one and mile 100 - when you think you can’t take one more step - we will always help lift you up to “put one foot in front of another.”  We salute Frank and his lifelong journey to lift up others…
