Prelinguistic Milieu Teaching

Prelinguistic Milieu Teaching is a communication intervention for children who are non-verbal and not yet communicating frequently.  It focuses on teaching early intentional communication, in the form of gestures, eye-gaze, and vocalizations. Behavior Analysts will identify a) prelinguistic communication, b) milieu teaching techniques, c) how to create opportunities for children to communicate within routines, and how to measure turn-taking within routines.

Practical Strategies for Identifying and Treating Apraxia and Other Speech Disorders in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Behavior Analysts will a) understand typical development of speech in children; b) identify differential characteristics of childhood apraxia of speech; c) compare methods for treating speech disorders in children with ASD, and d) demonstrate phonological recasting.
